Mary Bell Widmer and Hazel --- 1893?

Hazel was born March 21,1892, so I'm guessing this is an 1893 picture. Hillsboro, WI is under Akin, but no date. It always amuses me that adults rarely smiled in these old pictures, but look at Hazel's cute little smirk. ---Mary

Rockton School 1910-Widmer Girls

How cute is this? Ruth is under the arrow, Hazel is the teacher, Geneva is above the "x", and I don't know where Winnie is.
And I'm sure you all know to double click on the picture to enlarge it. ---Mary

17 Weeks

Pic of Liz taken tonight. We think we'll find out tomorrow if it's a boy or girl. Will let everyone know!

My new truck

Took these to email the parents, but thought I'd post them here. Bought it Tuesday night. My other truck was hit by an illegal, needed a new power steering pump, new clutch, new driver's side door lock (had to unlock through the passenger door), had 155,000 miles, needed new tires, and was getting to be an embaressment!

My latest adventures

Nancy prompted me to post these pics. :) Went to the lake and to Ha Ha Tonka State Park recently. Does everyone remember having Dad's 50th party at Ha Ha back in 1994? And we also saw an otter in the water. Some called it a muskrat. I don't know the difference... ~Kim

In Anticipation of Autumn - Come on, Cool Weather!

Okay, this was 2007 Autumn, but I can't wait for Fall to arrive. Little hints of it in the morning air, the days are getting shorter, woo-hoo!

Hope everyone is doing well.
Where is everybody? What have you been doing?
Let's get some blogging going. Who will be the next one to post?

Kristin's Surgery

Hello family! I wanted to let you all know that Kristin is having surgery tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon at Children's Hospital in Houston. She will receive a VNS implant to help prevent and control her seizures. The device is placed just below the collarbone in her chest and has wires that connect up to and wrap around the vagus nerve in the side of her neck, so she will have two incisions. (If you are interested, you can learn more about the VNS at http://www.cyberonics.com/.) We will be there one night, then come home Friday.

We are extremely hopeful that this will help her. The medicine is not able to help by itself and it has bad side effects. If the VNS works, we may be able to take her off of most of her meds. She might actually have an appetite and sleep in a regular pattern!

After 2 weeks of healing, we will go to her neurologist each week for 2 months so that he can turn on the device and slowly ramp it up. We should be able to see some improvement by the first of January. Think positive!

Much love,
Sarah
