FAMILY RECIPE

LEMON PIE
(Ruth Sanford)
>Mix together:
1/4 c. sugar
4 rounded Tbsp. flour
>Mix together:
1 3/4 c. water
Juice and grated rind of 2 lemons
>Gradually add dry ingredients to liquid in sauce pan; bring to boil and cook until thick, stirring constantly
>2 egg yolks, beaten (save whites for merengue); add small amount of pie filling to egg yolks and mix well, then add it all back into pie filling
>Cook slowly another 2 minutes, stirring
>Remove from heat and stir in 1 Tbsp. butter; cool; pour into cooled baked pie shell
>Whip egg whites until stiff peaks form, adding in 1/4 c. sugar and 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar while whipping; add to top of pie
>Put in 400-425 oven a few minutes, until nicely browned

Merry Christmas From the Vaughns!

Feeding the Seagulls

I took some time out this Christmas Eve day to do one of my favorite things at the local park - feeding the seagulls is so much fun. They will grab the bread in mid-air (or at least try), circle around and come back for more. They almost float overhead waiting for a morsel.

Wow! What a beauty!

The gulls would dive into the water quicker than any of the ducks could get to the food. If they could, they would take the bread away from a duck.

Hello from Mike Rogalski!

Thanks for the recent birthday wishes. Shari threw me a surprise gathering of friends for my 40th and I was surprised!

Myself, Shari, and two boys Mark (3 1/2) and Todd (7 months) are doing well. We live in Eden Prairie MN, a suburb of Minneapolis. Both Shari and I have worked for Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting) for 18+ years, which is where we met. We were married in 2002.

We will visit Shari's folks in New Ulm MN and then mine and my brother Joe in Madison over Christmas. We love winter and the outdoors, and so plan to go ice skating and maybe snowmobiling over the Christmas break.

That's a quick update for now. Merry Christmas to everyone!
