Sweet Treat

Janie is 9 weeks old today! She's going to be a pumpkin for Halloween. She changes so much every week - she's such a darling.

State Fair of Texas

The Ferris Wheel is a popular attraction.
Big Tex is a must see at the fair!

We each had a favorite car at the Car Show - I wanted the Cadillac and Allyson wanted the Mustang!

We enjoyed the bird show too, and had a great day together!
I love my daughter!

An Afternoon at the Dallas Arboretum and Pumpkin Patch

Last Sunday, we took the kids to the annual Pumpkin Patch Festival at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens at White Rock Lake. There was live music beside the lake, a house made of pumpkins, waterfalls, and plenty of photo opportunities! The kids had a great time!

HAPPY 32nd BIRTHDAY, JOE !!

Happy Birthday, Joe !! 32 years !! This is your first grade, first day of school picture-- with a Dallas Cowboys shirt? What's up with that?? Looks like you were hoping for a Vikings shirt ! :) Love, Mom and Dad (Mary and John)

July 4th, 1915 Ledge Rock--Ruth Sanford , continued

These are the four original pictures., to show the guys. Frank, my grandfather, is second in the top right picture, his brother, Elmer, second to his left, owned a business college in Wausau, WI. Left bottom picture in back is Elmer, Frank, and their father, Arnold Widmer who came from Switzerland(house is still standing in Ricterswil, now a craft school). And the young boy in front is Arnold McVey. Bottom right photo shows Arnold McVey and Arnold Widmer with hat, my great grandfather, (Viola's wife, Frank's father.)-----Mary DOUBLE CLICK ON THESE OLD PICS

July 4, 1915 Ledge Rock--Ruth Sanford

This is one of four pictures, taken July 4th , 1915. ( I so wish there had been audio for these old pictures. :) ) From the right, Mary Bell, Winnie, Ruth, Geneva, Bernice McVey, and Hazel and on the very left, Viola Widmer, ( Mary Bell's mother-in-law, Arnold Frank Widmer's wife). ---Mary

Widmers--Camp Forget & Sleepy Hollow--Ruth Sanford

This picture was taken Aug. 1, 1911 at Camp Forget and Butcher's Spring, a mile east of Ontario, WI on the Kickapoo River Banks. The front of the photo says Sleepy Hollow, so I don't know. Ruth is standing on the right, next to her mother, Mary Bell. Geneva is standing in front of Mary Bell, hands on post, with Hazel seated on her right, and Winnie is seated on the far right. I have the other names if anyone is interested. ---Mary

Widmer Sisters--Ruth Sanford

This is Winnie, Hazel, Ruth and Geneva. Anyone have a date? Mom(Geneva) looks about three years old which would make the date 1909. Just for fun--the more I look at this, the more Hazel looks like Julia Roberts, and Ruth resembles Susan Sarandon. Anyone have look-alike suggestions for Winnie and Geneva?---Mary

CJ MADE SELECT!

CJ MADE THE SELECT BASEBALL TEAM FOR THE KELLER 9 YEAR OLDS! HE IS SO EXCITED AND SO ARE WE! THIS TEAM WON STATE CHAMPS LAST YEAR SO WE KNOW WE HAVE SOME AWESOME AND SERIOUS COACHES ON THIS SELECT TEAM. CJ WILL BE ONE OF THE PITCHERS AS WELL AS A TEAM PLAYER FOR THE WHOLE TEAM. HE WILL PLAY ABOUT 60-90 GAMES FROM JAN-JULY. KEEP IN MIND, THAT THIS IS A VERY TOUGH TEAM TO BE ON SO THAT IS WHY WE ARE ALL SO EXCITED! IT IS A BIG COMMITTMENT, BUT IT IS WHERE CJ NEEDS TO BE SO THAT HE CAN PLAY WITH OTHER SERIOUS AND GOOD PLAYERS HIS AGE. WE WILL HAVE A GREAT TIME AND I WILL KEEP YOU ALL POSTED ON HIS GAMES IN THE SPRING!
CONGRATULATIONS, CJ...MOM AND DAD AND KRISTY ARE VERY PROUD OF YOU. YOU ARE ALL SMILES ALONG WITH US, BIG GUY!

CJ is my awesome big guy!

CJ is doing so well in school and baseball. I just wanted to do a brag about CJ, too! CJ is still a straight A student, a star athelete. And just as sweet as can be! He is playing baseball and is our #1 and only pitcher that can pitch. He tried out for Keller Select baseball last night and he pitched all strikes. He batted ground balls and made all the stops on baseballs and threw the ball back in a perfect manner. We will know next week if he is selected. It is a big committment of playing lots of baseball from Jan-July! Chris swears he will be a pro pitcher someday. He really has a great talent for it, and I admit, he is GOOD! CJ's 4th grade teacher came up to me the yesterday and said he is reading at 5th grade level and wants to test him for Gifted and Talented. Will know more next week with my conference with his teacher. As long as he does not have extra homework, I think he will be fine with the GT (Gifted and Talented) class. What kid likes homework anyway???
Anway, he is a great kid and all the nighborhood kids like to come over to our house and hang out with CJ....all ages. I am one proud MAMA to CJ!

Kristy is!

Kristy turned 4 on Oct 15 and she is very proud of it!
Here she is with a new dress from "NANA" (Bonnie) that she sent to her for her birthday.
We had a small party for Kristy and she told me she wanted a surprise party. SHE told me that she would go in the backyard and then come in and everyone say "SURPRISE"! Well, we did that and she was thrilled and very surprised. This was too cute to not share since she planned the whole thing! She is so sweet and such a doll...yes...I have to brag. She is Star Student of the month at her pre-school for being so sweet and super smart. I am so proud of her and as you can see in the picture, I think she is proud of herself!

We were gawking tonight at how Liz is starting to look more and more pregnant around the time that we were reading about gas prices on the family blog, so we took some photos. Here are a couple.

Finally Smiling!

Janie's started smiling this week. It melts my heart. I haven't been able to catch it on camera yet, but mom caught the one when Janie was playing with her daddy. - Laura
