Nathan and Abby carved pumpkins, went trick or treating, and toasted pumpkin seeds. We also watched It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.

FAMILY RECIPE
LEMON PIE
(Ruth Sanford)
>Mix together:
1/4 c. sugar
4 rounded Tbsp. flour
>Mix together:
1 3/4 c. water
Juice and grated rind of 2 lemons
>Gradually add dry ingredients to liquid in sauce pan; bring to boil and cook until thick, stirring constantly
>2 egg yolks, beaten (save whites for merengue); add small amount of pie filling to egg yolks and mix well, then add it all back into pie filling
>Cook slowly another 2 minutes, stirring
>Remove from heat and stir in 1 Tbsp. butter; cool; pour into cooled baked pie shell
>Whip egg whites until stiff peaks form, adding in 1/4 c. sugar and 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar while whipping; add to top of pie
>Put in 400-425 oven a few minutes, until nicely browned

Nathan's character name was "Brainwash". It's just basically a big brain with eyes popping out. It doesn't show up very well in pictures, I know. The days of mom picking a costume are long gone. . .

That's so funny! When Alex saw Nathan's costume, he said, "Oh, Nathan is Super Brain!" He was just guessing of course, but he was close!
