Hawks!

There were four hawks at our office last week-nesting in the trees above and feasting on the abundance of squirrels and birds. One captured a mockingbird (you can see bird feathers all over the ground) and another hawk tried to take it away... they were grabbing it back and forth. They are really beautiful creatures.

Great pictures, Mom! Also, I love the heading picture. The closest I've ever been to a Red-tailed Hawk is seeing one on the neighbor's fence behind us in the alley. I can't believe how HUGE the are. They are so amazing to watch. As far as Mesquite wildlife goes, that's about it, I guess - though I did see 2 coyotes on my way home from your house one night. - Laura

We had one fo these dive bomb a dove, or maybe a pigeon, in our backyard. Since it was around the time that I had planted new seed in the back yard, I left the feathers and carcass. No other birds landed in the backyard after that.
