FAMILY RECIPE
LEMON PIE
(Ruth Sanford)
>Mix together:
1/4 c. sugar
4 rounded Tbsp. flour
>Mix together:
1 3/4 c. water
Juice and grated rind of 2 lemons
>Gradually add dry ingredients to liquid in sauce pan; bring to boil and cook until thick, stirring constantly
>2 egg yolks, beaten (save whites for merengue); add small amount of pie filling to egg yolks and mix well, then add it all back into pie filling
>Cook slowly another 2 minutes, stirring
>Remove from heat and stir in 1 Tbsp. butter; cool; pour into cooled baked pie shell
>Whip egg whites until stiff peaks form, adding in 1/4 c. sugar and 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar while whipping; add to top of pie
>Put in 400-425 oven a few minutes, until nicely browned

Yeah, gas prices (though temporarily down at $2.79/gal.), food prices...Where's my cost of living raise?? :)

Wow, who is paying $2.79 per gallon for gas? We're at $3.29 per gallon, and that's the best it's been in a while. --Sarah
Missouri for $2.79.
We're the same price here in Arizona...around $3.30 or so. Between Liz's truck and mine, we spend over $120/week on gas. No complaints! In Feb. it will drop to around $50 after the baby is born.
Wassup is all these stupid CEO's retirement packages--AIG's retreat, etc. Gimme a break!!

Nothing exciting. I can't stand the commentary afterward - it's so slanted. I don't listen to it but it bothers me that other people do and find themselves nodding their little heads right along with the "experts." YUK
