Below is a tintype (badly scratched) of Mary Belle Lawton at 9 mos. old (1875). An interesting part of this is the one holding her. It is probably her father, Diamond Lawton, shown in the next picture with wife, Margaret. Notice his right hand - it has the look of a hard worker. I wish more of him could be seen, but it's just too dark to fix. Diamond and Margaret McFarland LawtonPhoto of sisters (not twins) Nellie and Mary Lawton. Tintype of sisters Millie, Mary, and Nellie Lawton. Tintype taken July 4, 1888 in Hillsboro WI. Seated: John Clark, Bert Eno. Standing: Mary Belle, Susan Clark (I have no idea who John, Bert, and Susan are... just friends, I suppose.
Remember the one that was posted of baby Frank Widmer in the off-the-shoulder dress, his hair slicked back on the top? Here is a redeeming photo of him at 2 yrs. 9 mos. (according to the info given).
I love the curly hair! ~Nancy~

Kelly - I think you're right! You got the hair gene from your great-great grandfather! Isn't that something!

Nancy, thanks so much for all these pictures. I've been looking at them all week ! I've only seen two, the last one of Frank, and Diamond and Margaret. I've been trying to find more pictures of the Hillsboro house. I remember one on a Hillsboro brochure.
