This is a Lawton family photo that I had scanned a while ago from my mom. I think the names are correct though if not feel free to comment and I can update and re-upload the photo. - Joe -

FAMILY RECIPE
LEMON PIE
(Ruth Sanford)
>Mix together:
1/4 c. sugar
4 rounded Tbsp. flour
>Mix together:
1 3/4 c. water
Juice and grated rind of 2 lemons
>Gradually add dry ingredients to liquid in sauce pan; bring to boil and cook until thick, stirring constantly
>2 egg yolks, beaten (save whites for merengue); add small amount of pie filling to egg yolks and mix well, then add it all back into pie filling
>Cook slowly another 2 minutes, stirring
>Remove from heat and stir in 1 Tbsp. butter; cool; pour into cooled baked pie shell
>Whip egg whites until stiff peaks form, adding in 1/4 c. sugar and 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar while whipping; add to top of pie
>Put in 400-425 oven a few minutes, until nicely browned

How old is the photo?

Mary Belle was born in 1874. The photo I have isn't dated, but it could be between 1888-1890-ish. Maybe Joe has a date on his.

I don't have a date for this picture, but Alonzo Diamond Lawton (Lon) was born July 31, 1884, and John Cliff Lawton was born July 12, 1887, the 8th and 9th children of Diamond and Margaret Lawton. They were not twins, as previously thought. ---Mary
No kidding! That's fascinating because we always thought that John and Lon were twins. They sure look like it in the photo. I remember citing them many times as ancestoral twins. How funny. Diamond is a good family name, don't you think. Hey Laura and John, what about Jane Diamond Vaughn? ~Nancy~
